Our Pastors

Gene and Janice Hale have shepherded the Word of God Church since 1983.  Since that time, God has raised up a tremendous work that centers around education. Both Rev. & Mrs. Hale have worked in Christian education for over 20 years.  God has continued to multiply the vision allowing this ministry to support various outreaches around the world as well as several Bible-training institutions.  It is the desire of these great leaders to impart the vision of reaching homes, communities and countries for the Lord.  By developing a strong local church, a pattern can be readily established for... "People Reaching People".
Your interest in this ministry is greatly appreciated.  If you desire a pastoral visit, please contact us at your convenience.

Janice Hale…

Janice and her husband are Co-Pastors of Word of God Christian Center in Aransas Pass, Texas. Janice and her husband have three children and ten grandchildren.

Janice was born in Oklahoma and became a Christian as a young girl. It was there that she met and married her husband. After retiring from the United States Navy in 1974, Janice and her husband became very active in Christian Education. She has taught in Christian schools for more than twenty-five years. Janice has spoken in many women’s conferences, served in Women’s Aglow and has been a Pastor’s wife for more than twenty years.

Gene Hale…

Gene Hale was called to the ministry at the age of 15. After having served 20 years in the United States Navy, he retired in 1974 and entered into the full time ministry. Serving his local church, he led praise and worship, directed the choir, taught Sunday School and worked faithfully in children’s ministry for many years. In addition to his church responsibilities, Gene traveled locally with this family presenting the Gospel in song. He later was given the opportunity to establish a Southern Gospel Music radio program in his community that remains unprecedented to this day. In the mid 70’s, he was presented with the exciting and rapidly growing concept of Christian Education. Instrumental in the formation of one highly successful Christian School in Beeville, TX, and his expertise was called on again in 1979 to help in the start up of yet another Christian School in Brownsville, TX. In August of 1983, with his wife of 25 years by his side, he became Pastor of Word of God Church in Aransas Pass, TX. Since that time, the church has flourished and become effective in their God given mandate to be… “people reaching people”…

Pastor’s vision is… “to make ready a people prepared for the Lord”. Under the leadership and direction of the Holy Spirit, this is literally being accomplished around the world through Missions, Bible Training Centers and Christian Education.

Balanced - Independent - Spirit Filled
What does that mean?

* Balanced. It has been said that, "There is a ditch...on either side of the road". In life we often get out of one ditch and fall right into the other. The same can happen with the teaching of God's Word, and being conscious of that, Pastor Hale delivers balanced teaching that will help lead you out of your ditch and onto Christ centered living.
* Independent. /ˌɪndɪˈpɛndənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[in-di-pen-duhnt] –adjective - not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself: At Word of God Church we are under the Authority of God, and as such, seek to not be influenced by the doctrines of man and the influence of society. We are independent of any denominational affiliation and while we feel there is nothing wrong with many denominations, we are led by God to form an autononomous church body.
* Spirit Filled. Every believer has been offered the companionship of the Holy Spirit and we are here to help you discover what that means and where it can take you in your Christian life.

8. Baptism of the believer by immersion in water, in obedience to the example and command of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt. 3:13-17; 28:19)
9. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation, with the scriptural evidence of speaking in tongues. (Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-46)
